Frequently Asked Questions

1) Are You Going To Shave Off My Brows?

What a great question. The answer is easy - no! We’ve noticed that several microbladers on social media use this technique. We believe strongly that the art of enhancing your brows should be just that - enhancing, not erasing your brows. We’ll work closely with you, share our knowledge of the industry/trends, techniques and of course will clean-up stray brow hairs as needed with tweezers, but will we never erase your brows!

2) How Is This Different Than A Traditional Eyebrow Tattoo?

The most common type of traditional eyebrow tattoos involve using an electric-powered tattoo gun which places metals (iron oxide-based pigments) deeper into the skin. The result is a one dimensional block-style brow, which leaves the client with a solid eyebrow without the 3D hyper-realistic hair-drawn depth.

Microblading by Brow Artistry leaves the client with crisp, tiny thin lines that look identical to real hair. We carefully select highly regulated European pigment (no metals, and never animal tested) and precisely hand-draw each hair ensuring that the natural brows and hand-drawn strokes blend seamlessly. Brow Artistry uses the finest quality microblades to give you the most natural-looking eyebrows. For clients interested in a more powerdered, “make-up-like," look, Brow Artistry also offers shading, which is also hand-drawn and gives a gorgeous density look -this is a great option for thinning and sparse brows. You may have heard this service called, “3D,” “4D,” “5D,” “6D,” “powdering,” “shading,” or, “ombré.” These are all the same service and we’re thrilled to provide them to you, regardless of what name you've heard them called.

3) How Long Does It Last?

Since Microblading pigments are not implanted as deeply into the skin as traditional tattoos; and the pigment doesn’t contain metals (iron oxides), the area will naturally fade overtime. Microblading typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on your skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Your skincare routine will affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan, use products with AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster as your skin will resurface more rapidly. Sun exposure will also affect the lasting effect of pigment. Remember to always wear sunscreen and a hat. Every individual will experience a unique color retention as well. Your health, your after-care precision, what you eat, your lifestyle, and any health issues you have will all affect your results. To ensure your brows look fresh, a complimentary touch up is included with the service 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment. A refresh is suggested every 12-18 months thereafter.

4) Does It Hurt?

Most clients agree that Microblading does not hurt. Actual quotes.....
“It doesn’t hurt -it’s just a scratching feeling.” “I love all the numbing creams - I couldn’t even feel it!” Are you kidding me - that’s it? I thought this was going to hurt!” “Honey -I’ve had two babies -this is a nap with great music.” “It hurts less than a tattoo and it’s way shorter of a time.” “The best word I’d use is annoying after some time.” “On a pain scale of 1 to 10, of 10 being the worst, this is a 3!” “The tweezing was way worse than the microblading - what a relief -it's not painful!” “It hurts as much as threading and let’s face it - that really doesn’t hurt -it’s uncomfortable.” “OMG.....Soooooo worth it!”
